Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to make a submission to this journal. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper. When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.

 

1.       Aims and Scope

The Journal of Halal Ecosystem and Technology (JHET) is an international peer-reviewed scientific journal dedicated to advancing research and innovation related to halal ecosystems, technology development, sustainable industry transformation, and Islamic economic systems. The journal promotes interdisciplinary research integrating science, technology, governance, and socio- economic innovation supporting global halal development. The journal publishes high-quality scholarly works including experimental studies, analytical research, and critical review articles.

Scope includes but is not limited to:

a. Halal food science and processing technology
b. Fisheries and marine halal products
c. Halal biotechnology and bioinnovation
d. Halal supply chain and logistics systems
e. Digitalization and smart halal industry
f. Islamic business and entrepreneurship
g. Halal certification systems and governance
h. Sustainable production and circular economy
i. Halal ecosystem policy and institutional development

 

2.       Article Categories

JHET accepts the following manuscript types:

2.1   Original Research Articles

Original scientific contributions presenting novel findings supported by systematic methodology and analysis. Typical length: 5,000 – 8,000 words.

2.2   Review Articles

Review articles provide comprehensive, critical, and state-of-the-art analysis of a specific research topic.

The journal particularly encourages:

  • Systematic Review
  • Critical Review
  • Bibliometric Review
  • Conceptual Framework Development Typical length: 6,000 – 10,000 words.

Review articles must demonstrate:

  • Strong literature synthesis
  • Research trend analysis
  • Identification of knowledge gaps
  • Future research directions.

 

3.       Manuscript Preparation Language

Manuscripts must be written in professional academic English. Authors are encouraged to use professional proofreading services prior to submission.

Manuscripts must be submitted in:
Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx).

Page Layout

Recommended formatting: Paper size : A4; Margin : 2.5 cm (all sides); Font : Times New Roman; Font size : 12 pt; Line spacing : 1.5; and Justified alignment.

4.       Structure of Original Research Articles

Manuscripts must be organized as follows:

Title

Concise and informative (maximum 20 words).

Author Information

Include: Full author names, Institutional affiliations, Country, and Corresponding author email.

Abstract (150–200 words)

Must include: Background, Objective, Methods, Results, and Conclusion. Avoid references and abbreviations.

Keywords

Provide 3–5 keywords.

Introduction

Must clearly describe: Background problem, Literature context, Research gap, Novelty, and Research objective.

Materials and Methods

Describe clearly: Experimental design, Data collection, Analytical methods, and Statistical analysis. Methods must allow reproducibility.

Results and Discussion

Authors are encouraged to integrate interpretation rather than descriptive reporting.

Discussion should include: Scientific interpretation, Comparison with previous studies, and Implications.

Conclusion

Provide concise scientific conclusions addressing research objectives. Avoid repetition of results.

 Acknowledgment

Funding and institutional support.

Conflict of Interest

Authors must declare potential conflicts.

AI Concern Statement

Authors must declare potential AI Concern Statement.

References

APA Style (7th Edition).

Minimum recommendation:

20 references with strong international sources.

 

Structure of Review Articles (Special Format)

Review manuscripts follow a slightly different structure.

Title Should reflect analytical or synthesis perspective.

Example: “A Systematic Review of Digital Halal Supply Chain Transformation.”

Abstract (200–250 words)

Must include: Background importance, Review objective, Literature approach, Key synthesis findings, and Future direction.

Keywords

Provide  3-6 keywords.

Introduction

Includes: Importance of topic, Global research development, and Problem justification.

Review Methodology

Mandatory for review papers.

Explain: Database sources (Scopus, WoS, etc.), Search keywords, Inclusion criteria, and Time range. Systematic or structured review approach is recommended.

Current Research Development

Discuss: Major research clusters, Scientific progress, and Technology evolution.

Research Gap and Challenges

Identify: Limitations of existing studies and Scientific challenges.

Future Research Directions

Highly encouraged section.

Explain emerging opportunities and innovation pathways.

Conclusion

Summarize contribution of the review.

References

Recommended:

Minimum 30 references with at least 70% journal articles.

 

Tables, Figures, and Illustrations

Tables and figures must: Be numbered consecutively, include descriptive captions, and be cited in the manuscript.

Image resolution minimum: 300 dpi.

Ethical Standards

Authors must ensure: Original work submission, No plagiarism, Proper citation practices, and Ethical approval where required.

The journal uses plagiarism detection screening. Maximum similarity index recommendation: ≤20%.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Usage Policy

  • Artificial Intelligence tools may be used only for:  Language improvement and Grammar correction.
  • AI tools must not be listed as authors.
  • Authors remain fully responsible for: Scientific accuracy, Data interpretation, and Originality of content.
  • Disclosure of AI assistance is recommended in acknowledgment.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness using APA syle (7th Edition).
  • All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
  • Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.
  • Corresponding author identified, and conflict of interest statement included.
